Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +5 points at 7,600.  The UK 100 looks set to open slightly higher this morning, recovering above 7600 having fallen from highs of 7653 yesterday.   On Wall Street the S&P index edged up 0.06% to finish at 4,997.91 after reaching a high of 5,000.40 heading into the close. The Dow Jones rose 48.97 points, or 0.13%, to end at 38,726.33, while the Nasdaq gained 0.24% to close at 15,793.71.  In the US today, the Bureau of Statistics will release the CPI revisions today, which consists of the revised month-over-month CPI figures for the past five years, incorporating some adjustments.

Barclays buys Tesco Bank for up to £700m as they enter into a strategic partnership for an initial term of 10 years.

 

Bellway reports lower revenue and house completions in H1. H1 revenue came in at £1.25bn, down from £1.8bn YoY, which was in line with expectations. H1 housing completions were 4,092, down from 5,695 YoY. Their forward order book stood at £1.01bn as of Jan 31st, down from £1.39bn YoY.

 

Victrex notes a slow start to FY24.
