Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open -18 points at 7501.  The UK 100 looks set to make a muted start today ahead of multiple service sector PMI readings.  US markets were closed yesterday for Independence Day while in Asia markets fell following a slowdown in the Caixin services purchasing managers’ index in China which eased to 53.9 points in June from 57.1 in May.  In China, the Shanghai Composite was down 0.5%, while the Hang Seng index in Hong Kong was down 1.3%. The Nikkei fell 0.5% in Tokyo.

Company News:

AO World report that their profit has recovered in the 2022-23 year as they have benefited from a plan to reduce costs and improve margins. Their EBITDA came in at £45m in the year to March 31st, in line with guidance and up from the £23m in 2021/22. Revenue fell by 17% to £1.14bn.

 

 

Legal & General says they are on track to achieve their 5-year ambitions as they expect to generate £8-9bn of capital over 2020-2024. They expect for FY22 an operating profit from divisions of £2.1bn. As of June their total annuity new business premiums stood at £575m, +27% YoY.

 

 

Topps Tiles expects to perform in line with market expectations in FY.
