Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open -20 points at 8,300. The UK 100 looks set to make a slightly negative start to the trading week, having added more than 90 points last week, driven higher by news that China was to cut interest rates and the add stimulus to the Chinese economy to help achieve the 5% annual growth target.

In Asia this morning it was a mixed trading session; however China’s CSI soared 8.7%.

On Wall Street Friday, the Dow Jones added 137.89 points, or 0.33%, ending at 42,313.00. The blue-chip average posted a closing record and reached an all-time high during the session. The S&P 500 ticked down 0.13% to 5,738.17, while the Nasdaq Composite lost 0.39% to end at 18,119.59.

Aston Martin delivered results this morning and said external factors within industry had impacted volume outlook for the remainder of 2024. Therefore, sees FY24 ebitda “slightly” below Full Year 2023.

 

Petrofac says it has reached preliminary agreement with key stakeholders on financial restructure. Also progressing talks with bank lending group. Interim figures showed 1st half net loss $208m with 1st half revenues of $1.24b.

 

Vodafone this morning confirmed the Sale of Italian Operations to Swisscom.
