Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +13 points at 8,389.  The UK 100 looks set to open higher this morning to start the new trading month on the front foot.

On Friday, US Markets gained further traction, with the Dow Jones hitting a fresh record high as investors ended the week on a high note. Traders also considered PCE inflation data released which is the preferred metric of the Federal Reserve. The 30-stock Dow jumped 228.03 points, or 0.55%, to close at 41,563.08. The S&P advanced 1.01%, closing at 5,648.40, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq gained 1.13% to end at 17,713.62.

The personal consumption expenditures price index, rose by 0.2% month on month in July and rose 2.5% from a year ago. The result was in line with estimates from economists polled by Dow Jones.

 

US Markets are closed today for the Labor Day holiday.

Kainos Expect to deliver Profit Before Tax in line with market forecasts for year ending March FY25. However, due to tougher trading environment in YTD, group expects revenues to be below current market estimates.

 

Sydney-listed REA Group on Monday confirmed it is considering considering make a cash and shares takeover offer for Rightmove, saying it was responding to “press speculation”.   REA said it has not yet “approached, nor had any discussions with, Rightmove regarding any potential offer”. However, the company said it sees a “transformational opportunity” in the combination of the two companies.
