Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +13 points at 8,297.  The UK 100 looks set to open on the front foot once again this morning.

Stocks in Asia were higher once more this morning, led by up by gains in Hong Kong and Japan, which saw the Nikkei index up more than 1% as the ruling Liberal Democratic Party conducted a leadership election that will determine who is Japan’s next prime minister.

On Wall Street yesterday the S&P climbed 0.40% to 5,745.37. The index posted a new all-time high during the session and a record close.  The Nasdaq climbed by 0.60%, closing at 18,190.29. The Dow Jones added 260.36 points, or 0.62%, to end at 42,175.11.
