Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +9 point at 7,686.  The UK 100 looks set to open slightly higher this morning, ahead of a busy few days of companies reporting, added to that the start of the two-day FOMC meeting in the US and there is plenty to grab the attention of investors.  Ahead of that meeting US equities advanced on Monday with the Dow Jones notching its 11th straight day of gains. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq also rose.

Company News:

Compass Group maintained their annual outlook as they reported a 15% jump in quarterly organic revenue, benefiting from new businesses and more people returning to work and events. They expect their operating margin to be between 6.7-6.8% and organic revenue growth of around 18% for the year ending September 2023.

 

 

Croda International report that their H1 pretax profit has fallen 80% to £128.7m vs £636.5m YoY.

 

 

Games Workshop Group report a FY pretax profit of £170.6m, up from £156.6m YoY.

 

 

Shell will receive up to $650m for its 35% stake in an Indonesian gas project that they are exiting.

 

 

Unilever reported better-than-expected underlying quarterly sales as they raised prices to make up for higher costs. They reported a 7.9% rise in underlying sales, beating analysts’ average forecast of a 6.4% increase. H1 underlying operating profit came in at 5.21bn euros, up 3.3% from 5.04bn euros YoY.

 

 

Unite Group raises £296m through the placing of 32.7m shares.

 

 

888 Holdings appoints Per Widerstrom as their new CEO effective from the 16th October 2023.
