The UK 100 called to open +36 points at 8,682. The UK 100 looks set to open higher this morning, gaining traction from Fridays late rally. Signs that President Trump’s next round of tariffs may be targeted than previously suggested and hopes that a Russia/Ukrainian truce can be agreed upon by the 20th April have also added to the positive sentiment this morning.
On Friday stateside saw the S&P inch higher, ending four consecutive weeks of declines. The S&P added 0.08%, rising into positive territory as the trading session drew to a close. The broad market index ended the day at 5,667.56. The Nasdaq gained 0.52% and settled at 17,784.05, while the Dow Jones advanced 32.03 points, or 0.08%, to close at 41,985.35.
Great Portland has bought One Chapel Place in the West End of London in a deal valuing the building at £56 million.
Plus500 has bought Indian financial services company Mehta Equities for $20 million.
S4 Capital posts £307m loss amid challenging conditions. Sir Martin Sorrell’s digital advertising and marketing business S4 Capital today posted a bottom-line loss of £306.9 million for 2024. The figure was driven by a non-cash impairment charge of £280.4 million, reflecting trading conditions in the second half of 2024 and the medium-term outlook. Net revenues fell 13.6% to £754.6 million as technology clients focused spending on AI-related capital expenditure rather than marketing. For this year, the company is targeting a broadly similar performance for net revenue and underlying earnings.
Wood Group, the energy services group said the deadline for Sidara to make a firm offer for the firm has been extended to April 17.
