The UK 100 called to open +46 points at 8,091. The UK 100 looks set to open higher again this morning, setting a fresh all time high in the process, a combination of interest rate optimism and a pause in Middle East tensions have now seen the UK’s Blue-Chip index close at record highs for two consecutive sessions. Stocks on Wall Street ripped higher for a second session yesterday as a strong batch of corporate earnings assuaged concerns over higher rates. The Dow Jones climbed 263.71 points, or 0.69%, to close at 38,503.69. The S&P gained 1.2% to finish the session at 5,070.55, while the Nasdaq ticked up 1.59% to end at 15,696.64.
ABRDN reported a rise in total assets and a return to net inflows of client cash in Q1 2024, as improved market sentiment helped it stem investor exits to rivals. Croda International says they are on track to meet previous group guidance for FY24.

Lloyds reported that their Q1 profit fell 28%, in line with analyst expectations as peaking interest rates and rising competition in the mortgage market squeezed margins. They reported a Q1 pretax profit of £1.6bn, down from £2.3bn a year ago.
Reckitt Benckiser’s like-for-like sales growth beat estimates in Q1 as more people bought its Lysol, Dettol and Finish cleaning products even as prices rose. They are on track to meet FY revenue and profit targets, led by mid-single-digit growth across its health and hygiene businesses. Their quarterly like-for-like net sales rose 1.5%, ahead of the 0.9% growth analysts had expected.
