The UK 100 called to open -10 points at 7,765. UK 100 is set to open slightly lower on Tuesday as investors keep a close eye on US debt ceiling talks. A top US Republican said his first one-on-one talks with President Joe Biden were “productive” but that there was still no deal. On Monday the US ended mixed, with the Dow closing -0.4%, S&P flat and Nasdaq +0.5%. In Asia on Tuesday, the Nikkei closed -0.6%, Shanghai -1% and Hong Kong -0.7%.
Cranswick reported a rise in FY profit as they saw strong demand for gourmet meat and fresh pork while cost inflation pressures eased. They reported an adjusted FY profit before tax of £140.1m compared to £136.9m last year.
RS Group reports a FY pretax profit of £371.5m.
SSP Group says they see their annual profit at the upper end of its expectations, betting on strong sales at its airport and railway station snack outlets due to robust domestic and leisure travel demand. They expect their core profit to be at the upper end of its view of £250-280m, compared with £142m in the previous year.
