The UK 100 called to open -28 points at 7,668. The UK 100 is expected to open lower on Friday, despite some festive cheer on Wall Street, as investors look ahead to a key US inflation reading. Data this morning showed that the UK economy shrank in the third quarter increasing the danger of a mild recession, figures showed today. UK gross domestic product is estimated to have fallen by 0.1% between July to September, revised down from a first estimate of no growth, the Office for National Statistics said. In the US on Thursday, Wall Street ended higher, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.9%, the S&P 500 up 1.0% and the Nasdaq Composite up 1.3%.
AstraZeneca and Ionis’ Wainua (eplontersen) has been approved in the US for the treatment of the polyneuropathy of hereditary transthyretin-mediated amyloidosis in adults, commonly referred to as hATTR-PN or ATTRv-PN.1 Wainua is the only approved medicine for the treatment of ATTRv-PN that can be self-administered via an auto-injector.2-4.
HSBC sale of its Canadian business to RBC received on 21 December 2023 the Canadian Federal Government’s Minister of Finance approved the sale, with this approval enabling the transaction to proceed.
