Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +23 points at 7,280.  The UK 100 looks set to open marginally higher this morning following gains in the US and Asia, On Wall Street, Nvidia was the star of the show, jumping 8.5% ahead of results on Wednesday driving the S&P 500 and Nasdaq higher, up 0.7% and 1.6% respectively.. The Dow’s progress was more modest, up 0.1%.  In Asia, the Nikkei 225 index was up 0.9%, in China, the Shanghai Composite was down 0.3%, while the Hang Seng index in Hong Kong was up 0.2%.

BHP Group report a FY attributable profit of $12.9bn, down 58% YoY from $30.9bn. They have declared a final dividend of 80 cents bringing their FY total to 170 cents, down YoY from 325 cents.

 

 

John Wood Group expects their annual adjusted core profit to be above its previous expectations, powered by strong growth across the British oilfield services and engineering firm’s business units. Their CFO David Kemp will retire from his role and a process to appoint his successor is underway.

 

 

Lookers reports a H1 pretax profit of £40.4m and an adjusted EPS of £0.09.
