Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +31 points at 7,352.  The UK 100 is expected to open higher on Wednesday after US markets reversed early falls to close ahead of today’s interest rate decision by the US Federal Reserve. In the US on Tuesday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.4%, the S&P 500 rose 0.7% and the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.5%.  In Asia, Chinese manufacturing returned to a mild state of contraction in October, survey data revealed.  The Caixin manufacturing purchasing managers’ index fell to 49.5 points in the month from 50.6 in September.

Company News:

ASOS expects their sales to decline by 5-15% in FY24, as they report a FY23 pretax loss of £296.7m, up from a loss of £31.9m YoY.

 

 

Aston Martin Lagonda have lowered their 2023 volume outlook due to production issues for their DB12, after reporting a small Q3 loss. They retained the rest of their 2023 outlook, but reported an adjusted Q3 operating loss of £48.4m on revenue of £362.1m. Analysts had expected an adjusted operating loss of £38m on revenue of £370m.

 

 

GSK have raised their FY profit and sales forecast for the second time this year, betting on the strong launch of its respiratory syncytial virus vaccine (RSV) and steady demand for its shingles shot. Analysts expect GSK’s RSV vaccine Arexvy to power future growth and is expected to garner FY sales of between £900m-£1bn. They now also expect a rise of 17%-20% in their adjusted earnings per share, up from 14%-17% growth previously forecast.

 

 

John Wood appoints Arvind Balan as CFO effective from 15th April.

 

 

Next have raised their FY profit outlook for the fourth time in six months as they reported a better-than-expected 4% rise in their Q3 full-price sales.

 

 

Weir Group says their Q3 performance has met expectations, with revenue and operating margins up YoY. They have also appointed Brian Puffer as their CFO, who will join on 1st April.
