Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open -44 points at 7,545.  The UK 100 is expected to open lower as Middle East tensions sparked heavy falls in the US and Asian markets.  In Asia, the Nikkei 225 was down 1.7%. In China, the Shanghai Composite was down 1.2%, while the Hang Seng index in Hong Kong was down 2.0%. It was a similar picture Stateside yesterday, The Dow Jones closed down 1.0%, the S&P fell 1.3%, and the Nasdaq declined 1.6%.

Company News:

Centamin reports a Q3 pretax profit of $56.5m, down 7% YoY as their Q3 revenue also fell 8% YoY to $200.4m. Q3 gold sold came in at 103,807 oz, down 18% YoY and Q3 gold production also fell 21% YoY to 101,307 oz.

 

 

Deliveroo backs their FY outlook as they maintain their EBITDA outlook range at £60-80m.

 

 

Dunelm report that their Q1 sales rose 9% as customers spruced up their homes with new curtains, bedding and home decorations despite the cost-of-living crisis. Their total sales in Q1 came in at £390m.

 

 

Hargreaves Lansdown reported 8,000 net new clients for Q1, which was lower than the previous quarter, amid flailing investor confidence due to choppy markets. Their net new business fell to £600m in Q1, down from £1.7bn in the previous quarter and £0.7bn in the same quarter last year.

 

 

London Stock Exchange Group says they are on track to end the year towards the upper end of its growth targets, having established a “consistent track record” in data and analytics. Their annual subscription value growth came in at 7.1%.

 

 

Mondi report that demand in Q3 remained weak and is expected to stay subdued in the final quarter of the year. Their underlying core profit in Q3 came in at 261m euros, lower than the prior quarter due to a “much-reduced” fair value gain for its forestry assets.

 

 

Rentokil Initial report that their Q3 revenue increased 53% YoY to £1.38bn. They expect “good growth” in the rest of 2023 as they are on track to meet FY guidance.
