Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open -38 points at 7,839.  The UK’s Blue chip index looks set to follow Asian markets lower this morning, this comes after reports this morning suggest that Israel carried out an operation in Iran in retaliation to a drone and missile attack launched against it on Saturday.  The S&P slipped for a fifth straight day on Thursday, registering its longest losing streak since last October.  The broad index lost 0.22% to 5,011.12, while the Nasdaq dropped 0.52% to 15,601.50. The Dow Jones added 22.07 points, or 0.06%, to finish at 37,775.38, still closing just above its flatline for 2024.  On today’s macroeconomic calendar, retail sales were shown to have stayed flat month on month in March, undershooting the 0.3% rise anticipated by analysts. Year on year, retail sales added 0.8%.
