Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +5 points at 8,175. UK 100 is set to open slightly higher on Wednesday following Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s latest assurance that inflation is retuning to target, which has driven hope of an imminent interest rate cut. UK CPI data ticked higher this morning +2% YoY, when +1.9% was expected. This is still in line with the government’s key 2% inflation target. Wall street surged yesterday, posting fresh record highs with the Dow closing +1.9% at 40,954, S&P +0.6% at 5,667 & Nasdaq +0.2% at 18,509. In Asia overnight it was a mixed trading session as Hong Kong closed +0.1% and Tokyo closed -0.2%.
