Company News:

Antofagasta reported a 15% increase in copper production for Q3 2024, with continued strong performance expected to keep full-year production within the lower range of 670-710,000 tonnes. Despite higher production costs year-to-date, Q3 saw a significant reduction in cash costs, driven by improved operations at Los Pelambres and Centinela. The company also continues to make progress on significant development projects, aiming for increased output in 2025.

Rio Tinto has reported consistent iron-ore production from its operations in Australia’s Pilbara, with third-quarter output increasing by 1% to 84.1-million tonnes. The company also achieved a significant milestone at its bauxite operations, with production rising by 8% to 15.1-million tonnes.

Whitbread has announced solid performance in its UK accommodation sales and promising growth in Germany, with a focus on expanding its Premier Inn brand. The company has increased its interim dividend and launched a £100m share buy-back, while outlining a Five-Year Plan aiming for significant profit growth and over £2bn in shareholder returns. Despite a softer demand environment in the UK, Whitbread remains optimistic, driven by its expansion plans and efficiency initiatives.
