Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +4 points at 7,628.  The UK 100 is expected to start the week on the front foot although the session may be more subdued than normal with US markets closed for Martin Luther King Day.  On Friday, US markets ended mixed, while in Asia, equity markets have made steady progress. The 30-stock Dow lost 118.04 points, or 0.31%, to close at 37,592.98. The S&P ended the day 0.08% higher at 4,783.83, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq closed just above flat, gaining 0.02% to settle at 14,972.76.

Company News:

Ashmore Group report that their assets under management climbed 4% in Q2, supported by positive response from clients amid an improving global macro environment. Net outflows for the quarter end Dec 31st came in at $1.6bn, lower than the previous quarter. Assets under management rose to $54bn up from $51.7bn at the end of Sept.

 

Crest Nicholson has cut its annual profit forecast citing higher costs related to certain legacy sites and an exceptional charge of £13m on a legal claim. They now expect their FY adjusted profit before tax to be £41m, compared with previous expectations of £45-50m.

 

PageGroup report a total Q4 2023 gross profit of £237.3m, up from £266.9m YoY.
