The UK 100 called to open -5 points at 8,428. The UK 100 looks set to open marginally lower this morning, the UK’s blue chip index looks set to pause for breath following 6 consecutive record closes. The Dow eked out its eighth straight session of gains on Friday and closed out its best week of the year as US stocks finished the day mostly in the green. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which capped off its best week since Dec, jumped roughly 0.3%, or about 125 points. The benchmark S&P finished the day up about 0.2%, closing above 5,220. The tech-heavy Nasdaq closed just below the flatline.
Diploma report a H1 pretax profit of £77.8m, down from £78.7m YoY. They have declared an interim dividend of 17.3p per share, up 5% from 16.5p YoY. They have upgraded their FY24 guidance as they now expect approximately 20.5% “strong” operating margin.
Phoenix Group CFO Rakesh Thakrar is to leave in 2024. They will now start to look for a new CFO, with Stephanie Bruce hired as interim CFO.
Unite confirms the sale of six UK properties for £184m.
Victrex report a H1 pretax profit of £3.3m, down from £39.1m YoY. They state that the softer H1 performance is in line with expectations of the wider chemical sector. They are expecting mid-single digit volume growth for FY25, with no growth in pretax profit.
