Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +20 points at 7,562.  The UK 100 is expected to edge higher at the open ahead of a trio of interest rate decisions over the next two days.  Data this morning showed, The UK economy shrank by more than expected in October as the UK continues to battle to avoid a recession. Over the three months to October, the ONS said GDP showed no growth compared with the three months to July 2023.  In the US on Tuesday, markets climbed, with both the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 up 0.5% and the Nasdaq Composite up 0.7%.  Investors will be eyeing the interest rate decision from the US Federal Reserve after the London close and comments from the Fed Chair Jerome Powell regarding the future path of interest rates. The US central bank is widely expected to leave interest rates unchanged, as are the Bank of England and the European Central Bank tomorrow.
