Index Focus - 29 November 2016

Equities are mixed, the UK Index in the red on continued oil price volatility and metals prices pulling back from highs while Germany’s DAX and Wall St bounce back from yesterday’s losses. Investors nerves are nonetheless frayed by OPEC member bipolarism (optimism one minute, pessimism the next), coupled with weekend political risk in the form of Austro-Italian votes that could have far reaching ramifications across the troubled region and add to an existing tally of populist discontent in the wake of Brexit and Trump.

The  UK 100 remains under significant pressure having breached the 6770 lows of yesterday. The DAX 30 is trying to break back higher at 10600 following yesterday’s breakdown. Dow Jones Futures are sideways in a 19080-19140 range. Break higher or lower? Gold has found rising support at $1185, trying to engineer a run back to $1200 but still under significant pressure.

Where next?
  1. Will the index fall towards lows of 6520 or;
  2. Will the index rise towards highs of 7000?
