Capita is an international outsourcing and professional services company, headquartered in London. Capita share dealing has been possible on the London Stock exchange since 1991 and the company is currently part of the prestigious index, although over the years it has grown from a small cap and featured among the UK’s flagship UK Index 100 index of blue-chips.
The company was formed back in 1984 as part of UK’s CIPFA (Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accounting), becoming an independent 33-man firm in 1987 as a result of a management buy-out. In 2006, Capita moved into the lucrative Legal services arena through use of a funding arrangement with Law Firm Optima Legal Services involving investment loans totalling £36.7 million through 2009. It also moved into healthcare recruitment in May 2011 after it acquired Team24, extending the services they offer within the competitive recruitment industry.
