Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +28 points at 8,137. The UK 100 looks set to open higher once again this morning, building on yesterdays gains.

 

Yesterday on Wall Street the Nasdaq advanced 0.6% to settle at 18,791.81, while the S&P added about 0.4% to close at 5,893.62. The Dow Jones fell 55.39 points, or 0.1%, to finish at 43,389.60.

 

The tech-heavy Nasdaq was spurred forward by a 5.6% pop in Tesla, elsewhere, Apple and Netflix

gained 1.3% and 2.8%, respectively, while Advanced Micro Devices surged 3%.  In focus today will be the latest update from Nvidia.

Company News:

Genuit Group reported a resilient performance despite challenging market conditions, with a strategic focus on enhancing productivity and margins. The company has successfully reduced debt and integrated recent acquisitions, while continuing to generate strong cash flow. As market conditions remain subdued, Genuit remains optimistic about future growth opportunities driven by government commitments to housebuilding and decarbonization.

 

GSK today announced positive headline results of GLISTEN, the ongoing global phase III clinical trial evaluating linerixibat, an investigational targeted inhibitor of the ileal bile acid transporter (IBAT), in adults with cholestatic pruritus (relentless itch) associated with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), a rare autoimmune liver disease.  GLISTEN met its primary endpoint, with linerixibat resulting in an improvement in itch, as demonstrated by a statistically significant reduction from baseline in monthly itch score over 24 weeks versus placebo.

 

Imperial Brands on Tuesday reported a 4.6% rise in adjusted operating profit, surpassing analyst expectations.  Tobacco volumes for the year to 30 September declined 4%, while net revenues from next generation products (NGP) rose by 26.4% to £335 million.  Imperial previously announced a 4.5% rise in annual dividend to 153.42p a share.  For the new financial year, the Bristol-based company expects to deliver tobacco and next generation net revenue growth at low single-digit constant currency.  It also sees adjusted operating profit close to the middle of its mid-single-digit range at constant currency.
