Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +18 points at 8,266.  The UK 100 looks set to open slightly higher this morning and kick off the week on the front foot.

Overnight, Asian markets faced a mixed performance, with Japan’s Nikkei enjoying the biggest gain of 1.82%.

On Friday, The Nasdaq climbed to an all-time high on Friday, boosted by megacap tech stocks.  The tech-heavy index rose 0.56% to 18,518.61, while the S&P inched 0.03% lower to end at 5,808.12. The Dow Jones was the biggest faller dropping 259.96 points, or 0.61%, to close at 42,114.40.

Company News:

Lloyds said this morning that it is assessing the potential impact of the decisions, as well as any broader implications, pending the outcome of the appeal applications. The Group will update the market, if and as appropriate.

 

Trainline today upgraded full-year guidance for the second time in two months.  It now expects ticket sales growth of between 12% and 14%, compared with previous expectations for the top end of a range between 8% and 12%.

 

Britain’s financial regulator said on Monday it has fined money transfer firm Wise CEO, Kristo Kaarmann, £350,000 ($453,565) for failing to notify the watchdog of significant tax issues.
