Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +15 points at 8,307. The UK 100 looks set to trade above 8300 today, expanding gains from yesterday.

The UK’s unemployment rate unexpectedly fell to 4% in the June to August quarter, figures from the Office for National Statistics showed today.

The S&P index climbed 0.77% to 5,859.85, while the 30-stock Dow advanced 201.36 points to 43,065.22. Both averages hit all-time highs and closed at records, with the Dow ending the session above the 43,000 mark for the first time. The Nasdaq added 0.87%, closing at 18,502.69.

Oil prices dropped overnight after OPEC lowered its global oil demand forecast for this year and next.  The revision due to consumption projections in countries including China left Brent Crude futures at $74.61 a barrel.
