Chinese shares erased a drop to advance in volatile trading as investors weighed the impact of measures announced by the Finance Ministry to revive growth.
On Wall Street on Friday the S&P and Dow Jones both hit new highs on Friday and capped off a winning week as banking reporting season started with a bang. The S&P gained 0.61% to end at 5,815.03, while the Dow rallied 409.74 points, or 0.97%, to finish at 42,863.86. The Nasdaq added 0.33% to finish at 18,342.94 and less than 2% below its all-time high.
Emerging markets-focused Ashmore saw assets surge over the last three months, turning around a years-long trend of poor performance for the asset manager. Assets under management at the fund house increased by $2.5bn (£1.9bn) over the quarter to 30 September thanks to $3.2bn (£2.4bn) of positive investment performance, with investors only withdrawing $700m (£535m) during the period.
easyJet on Monday said it has appointed Jan De Raeymaeker as its chief financial officer with effect from Jan. 20, replacing Kenton Jarvis, who will take over as the British budget airline’s CEO.
The owner of the Mulberry fashion brand has rejected an increased £111m bid from Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group to buy the British luxury handbag maker, saying it has “no interest” in selling its shares.
