The UK 100 called to open +30 points at 8,357. The UK 100 looks set to open higher this morning after the bank holiday break, shrugging on a mixed session on Wall Street yesterday and in Asia today.
The Dow Jones closed at a record high on Monday as investors tried to complete the recovery from the sell-off earlier this month. The 30-stock index closed up 65.44 points, or 0.16%, at 41,240.52. Earlier in the day, it climbed more than 200 points, or 0.6%, to set a new intraday record, then pulled back from that level. The S&P slipped 0.32% to 5,616.84, while the Nasdaq was the worst performing of the major indices, sinking 0.85% to end the day at 17,725.76.
Asian stocks fell on Tuesday as investors pondered looming U.S. interest rate cuts and awaited earnings from AI darling Nvidia later in the week, while rising tensions in the Middle East and supply concerns checked risk sentiment and propped up oil prices.
Bunzl this morning reported a full year profit upgrade, and said they had delivered a record year for acquisitions and three-year capital allocation commitment with an initial £250 million share buyback.
