The UK 100 called to open +15 points at 8,256. The UK 100 looks set to open higher this morning as Labour claimed a landslide victory overnight as widely expected. Sterling gained 0.2% against the US Dollar to $1.277. Focus will now turn to the King’s speech to understand Sir Kier Starmer’s priorities for his first year in Government. US Markets will reopen today following the Independence Day holiday, with Non-Farm Payrolls in focus.
Glencore gets final regulatory approval from the Canadian government for the acquisition of a 77% stake in Elk Vally Resources from Teck.
Shell will take an impairment charge of up to $2bn after the sale if its Singapore refinery and pausing construction of one of Europe’s largest biofuel plants.
