Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open -12 points at 8,224.  The UK 100 looks set to open slightly lower this morning, this comes on the back of Asian markets starting the trading week in mixed fashion, China’s Shanghai Composite traded at a four-month low after falling 0.6% and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index lost 0.8%. The Nikkei however rallied 0.7% as the yen came under fresh pressure on the back of interest rate comments by Bank of Japan policymakers. Friday saw markets stateside close lower, The broad market S&P fell 0.16% to finish at 5,464.62, while the Nasdaq dipped 0.18% to settle at 17,689.36. The Dow Jones bucked the trend slightly edging up 15.57 points, or 0.04% to close at 39,150.33.

Britvic: PepsiCo are to waive clause in bottling deal as Carlsberg eyes a $3.9bn bid for Britvic.

 

 

GSK notes Jemperli plus chemotherapy has been accepted for review by the EMA for cancer form. They also celebrate the approval of Omjjara in Japan for the treatment of myelofibrosis.

 

Prudential have launched a $2bn share buyback programme, starting with a $700m tranche on Monday.

 

THG Holdings states that the positive momentum they experienced in Q4 2023 has continued into H1 of 2024. They have also agreed to sell their portfolio of luxury goods websites to Frasers Group.
