Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +50 points at 8,282.  The UK 100 looks set to open higher this morning, this comes after US stocks closed with modest gains on Tuesday, buoyed by weaker-than-expected labour market data that reinforced expectations of an impending interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve.  The 30-stock Dow climbed 140.26 points, or 0.36%, to close at 38,711.29. The S&P added 0.15% to finish the session at 5,291.34, and the Nasdaq advanced 0.17% to 16,857.05. Treasury yields were notably lower, with the rate on the benchmark 10-year note slipping about 7 basis points.  Markets in Asia this morning have been firmer, Chinese PMI data showed substantial growth in May, its most rapid expansion in 10 months.
