Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open -80 points at 8,263. UK 100 is set to open lower on Friday, following New York lower amid interest rate cut concerns after stronger-than-expected US jobs and PMI data. Wall Street ended lower with the Dow closing -1.5%, S&P -0.7% and Nasdaq -0.4%. In Asia Tokyo closed -1.1%, Shanghai -0.4% and Hong Kong -1.5%.

GSK: A jury in Chicago have rejected a woman’s claim that GSK’s now discontinued drug, Zantac caused her colon cancer, in the first trial out of thousands of lawsuits making similar allegations.

 

Hargreaves Lansdown: Peter Hargreaves the biggest shareholder is open to taking the company private and has held talks with investors recently about a transaction.

 

Intertek says their Like-for-Like revenue growth was 7% for the first four months of 2024. They have reiterated their 2024 outlook of mid-single digit Like-for-Like revenue growth and margin progression.

 

John Wood unanimously rejects a third proposal by Sidara, as they say it still undervalues the firm.
