The UK 100 called to open -25 points at 7,892. The UK 100 looks set to open lower this morning, having pulled back slightly yesterday also. Stocks slipped Stateside yesterday to start a shortened trading week as the rally that brought Wall Street to record levels took a breather. The Dow Jones fell 162.26 points, or 0.41%, closing at 39,313.64. The S&P dipped 0.31% to finish at 5,218.19, while the Nasdaq was down 0.27% and settled at 16,384.47.
Bellway have retained their annual home-building targets, after posting a 57% slump in HY profit, as an improvement in demand in recent months fuelled hopes of a recovery in the housing sector. They have seen signs of stability at the start of 2024 on easing mortgage rates after battling subdued demand for most of last year, but the delay by the Bank of England in lowering interest rates and incessant macro-economic concerns have tempered hopes of a better-placed recovery.
Flutter expect their core profit to jump by around 30% this year thanks to a four-fold increase at its fast-growing U.S brand Fanduel. They expect their core profit to be $785m, up from $167m YoY, which represented its first FY of profitability in the U.S where a ban on sports betting was lifted in 2018.
Ocado Group have maintained their guidance for the 2023-24 year after reporting a 10.6% rise in revenue in its latest quarter that reflected growth in customer numbers. Retail revenue came in at £645.3m in Q1, as active customers rose 6.4% to 1.02m.
Pets at Home says their pretax profit of £132m expected is in line with outlook.
Smiths Group have named Roland Carter as their new CEO, succeeding Paul Keel who will step down with immediate effect.
Vistry Group signs a new partnership agreement with Abri to deliver 1,900 mixed tenure homes.
