The UK 100 called to open +4 points at 7,696. The UK 100 looks set to open higher this morning, this follows a strong trading day on Wall Street yesterday, which saw the S&P and Nasdaq back to record highs, as hope over easing inflation and gains in tech aided Wall Street’s midweek bounce. The broad S&P advanced 1.03% to 5,157.36, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq climbed 1.51% to 16,273.38. Both notched all-time highs during the session, while the S&P 500 also clinched a closing record. The Dow Jones gained 130.30 points, or 0.34%, to close at 38,791.35. In focus today will be non-farm payroll and unemployment data out of the US.
Beazley’s board approves a share buyback programmes of up to $325m.
Informa raised their earnings forecast for the current year after its 2023 profit more than doubled as they benefited from the return of live events post the pandemic-led slump and strong performance across its markets. They raised their adjusted operating profit forecast for 2024 to £950-970m, higher than its January forecast of £945-965m. Their adjusted operating profit for the year ended Dec 31st was up 59.1% to £853.8m.
Just Group recorded a better-than-expected 47% rise in 2023 underlying operating profit to £377m, helped by high levels of new business. Analyst estimates had expected their underlying profit to come in at £362m. They expect to achieve their target of doubling 2021 profits of £211m in 2024, two years ahead of its original plans.
