Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +17 points at 7,711.  The UK 100 is expected to open higher on Tuesday after US markets soared ahead of inflation figures later this week.  On Wall Street, the major averages rose Monday, boosted by tech shares, as Wall Street tried to recover from a tough week.  The S&P gained 1.41% to end at 4,763.54, and the Nasdaq  umped 2.2% to close at 14,843.77. It was the tech-heavy index’s best day since Nov. 14. The Dow Jones added 216.90 points, or 0.58%, settling at 37,683.01.

B&M European Value Retail SA have kept their FY profit outlook as they reported a 5% rise in revenue over the Christmas quarter, bucking a more subdued outcome across the wider market. They still expect their FY 2023/24 adjusted EBITDA to be £620-630m, up from £573m YoY.

 

 

Centamin reports “encouraging” results from their Egyptian drilling programme.

 

 

Games Workshop Group report a HY profit before tax of £95.2m, up from £83.6m YoY.

 

 

GSK agrees to acquire Aiolos Bio for $1bn.
