Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +9 points at 7301.  The UK 100 is called to open higher as investors await the latest US inflation print.   This follows on from a strong showing on Wall Street, with the Dow Jones up 0.9%, the S&P up 0.7% and the Nasdaq up 0.6%.  Economists expect the headline US inflation figure to ease to 3.1% in June from 4.0% in May, on an annual basis.

Grafton notes resilience in H1 performance in line with expectations.

 

 

JD Wetherspoon says they expect their FY profit to be in line with market estimates, encouraged by strong demand and a slight easing in cost pressures.

 

 

PageGroup report that their Q2 gross profit fell 6.5% to £263.5m. Their Q2 productivity increased 6% QoQ, but was down 4% YoY.
