BHP Billiton Bounces on Results Relief
Dow Jones – 24 Feb
Shares in BHP Billiton gain 3.65% to trade at 1603.5p, as investors react favourably to a 1H profits slide that wasn’t as bad as expected thanks to better iron ore performance and cost cuts, according to Mike van Dulken at Accendo Markets. “Good news also comes from further cost cutting being highlighted to allow the group to withstand difficult market conditions (low oil price hurting petroleum arm) and help retain profitability/margins.” Accendo cautions however that while the bounce has been good, “are the results a breakthrough?”
