Tesco (TSCO.L) – Tesco is poised to sideline its marketing head in a fresh sign of the ongoing management turmoil at Britain’s biggest retailer, Sky News reported. Philip Clarke, Tesco’s chief executive, has decided to appoint a new chief marketing officer in place of Matt Atkinson, who has been in the role for just over a year. Closing price 287.85p. (Reuters)
Rio Tinto (RIO.L) and BHP Billiton (BLT.L) – Aluminium behemoth Alcoa reported better-than-expected first quarter results last night. Shares rose some 2.5% in after-hours trading. Closing Prices 3246.50p and 1940.00p respectively (Bloomberg).
