WPP (WPP.L) – Publicis and Omnicom to merge to create advertising giant which will overtake WPP’s lead as the largest advertising company on the planet. The merger if approved will create a combined value of $35bn and employ 130,000 people in 45 countries. UBS also upgraded WPP to a Buy this morning. Closing Price 1175.00p (Reuters)
Reckitt Benckiser (RB.L) – 6% rise in H1 sales and said it expected revenue growth at the top end of guidance for the full-year on a constant exchange rate to £5bn, with adjusted earnings up 7% to 118.3p a share. Forecasts were £5.09bn and 118.75p respectively. Confident of achieving FY group revenue growth at the upper end of a 5-6% range. Closing Price 4626.00p (Reuters)
Randgold Resources (RRS.L) – Tongon mine steadily improving its performance. Tongon’s usage of grid power, a major component of its cost profile, is now nearing planned levels.
