Centrica (CNA.L) – Plans for a £2bn wind farm off the coast of Norfolk has been snubbed by ministers, who rejected a request for it to qualify as one of the first wave of new energy projects. Closing price 331.30p (Telegraph)
TalkTalk (TALK.L) – The chatter on Wednesday was that the London-based broadband provider’s days of independence were numbered with Vodafone (VOD.L) mentioned among possible suitors for the company, according to various newspaper market reports. Closing prices 269.80p and 224.90p respectively (Reuters)
Merck KGaA (MRCG.DE) – had agreed to buy AZ Electronic Materials (AZEM.L), a maker of specialty chemicals used to make Apple’s iPad, for about £1.57m. Shareholders in AZ will receive 403.5p in cash for each share, a premium of about 53% on Wednesday’s closing price. Closing Price 262.90p (Reuters)
Mulberry (MUL.L) – Posted a 28% fall in H1 profit. Pretax profit was £7.2m, down from £10m a year ago. H1 revenue, over 80% of which currently comes from Europe, grew 2% to £78.1m, with retail revenue up 6% and wholesale sales down 5%. Closing Price 1025.00p (Reuters)
