BHP Billiton (BLT.L) Rio Tinto (RIO.L) Anglo American (AAL.L) Antofagasta (ANTO.L) Glencore Xstrata (GLEN.L) – China’s purchasing managing index (PMI) edged up to 50.3 vs 50.2 in February. HSBC Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI), which focuses more on the private sector, fell to an eight-month low of 48.0 vs 48.1 in March. ICAP (IAP.L) – said activity in its global broking division dropped in February and March on account of lower trading volumes on global markets. Revenues contracted by 14% compared with a year earlier. Overall results for its full year are expected to be in line with current market consensus forecasts. Closing Price 379.50p (Reuters)

Weir Group (WEIR.L) – In talks to take over its Finnish rival Metso Oyj in a £8.5bn deal to expand its industrial pumps and valves market. Closing price 2536p (The Times)
